Our Porsche 993 Twin‑Turbo Build Comes Together – Body, Bumper, and What’s Next

Our Porsche 993 Twin‑Turbo Build Comes Together – Body, Bumper, and What’s Next

If you’ve been following our 993 project, this is the first time it’s really starting to look like a finished car again instead of a bare shell.

We took this 993 down to bare metal, changed the color to a wild orange, built a full twin‑turbo engine, overhauled the suspension, and specced new wheels. In this update, we walk you through where the car sits now with the body back together, our custom front bumper on, and what’s coming next.

From bare metal to orange 993

We didn’t just respray this car. The shell went:

  • Down to bare metal
  • Through bodywork and prep to correct old sins
  • Into a full color change to a bold orange that fits the car’s new personality

Seeing the panels, glass, and trim going back on after staring at a naked shell for so long is a big milestone. In the video, you’ll see:

  • The body assembled and aligned
  • The new paint showing its true shape with all the panels on
  • How the new color works with the car’s lines vs stock silver/black/guards/etc.

Custom front bumper – why we built our own

Off‑the‑shelf 993 aero is… fine. But for what we’re doing with this car (twin‑turbo power and real track use), we wanted something different.

In this update we walk through the custom front bumper we designed:

  • More aggressive intake openings for cooling
  • Cleaner integration with the upcoming intercooler and ducting
  • A look that nods to motorsport without looking like a bolt‑on catalog kit

We show how it fits with the rest of the bodywork, how it lines up with the fenders, and what still needs to be dialed in before final paint and finish.

Twin‑turbo engine and chassis – quick recap

The video is focused on body and bumper, but in case you’re new to the build, here’s what’s already in motion under the skin:

  • Full engine build with a twin‑turbo setup
  • Supporting fuel and cooling upgrades
  • Completely refreshed or upgraded suspension
  • New wheel/tire setup to match the power and aero

This car isn’t a “wheels and wrap” build – it’s a ground‑up 993 that’s being built to actually be driven hard.

We’ll go deeper on the engine, turbos, and suspension in their own update episodes and posts.

What’s next for the 993 project

In the next phases, you’ll see:

  • Final fit and finish on the custom front bumper
  • Intercooler and ducting integration behind that new front end
  • More interior work to tie the build together
  • Engine and turbo plumbing coming together, then dyno and shakedown

If you’re into air‑cooled cars, serious engine builds, and stuff you don’t see at every cars‑and‑coffee, this 993 is being built for you.
