You’re left having to look up slightly to have proper visibility out the front of the car. In addition to being bothersome and uncomfortable, having your neck in this position all day can become rather tiring after a long day at the track.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter doing some research with contacts in the industry, AQM discovered that due to new DOT regulations OE seats are now required to have a minimum distance between your head and the headrest. Vehicle manufacturers get around this and maintain comfort by making the headrest adjustable. Unfortunately with non-adjustable headrests like on the new LWBS, the comfort issue arises and this had led to many complaints.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cb\u003eThe Solution\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter testing a multitude of different options, AQM settled on a design for a precisely engineered longer \/ angled pivot arm. The pivot arm is what the seat rotates on that increases and decreases the height of the seat when you push the button to raise or lower it. The AQM pivot arm changes the axis of that pivot and causes the seat to angle back further, raising the front of the seat up about 1.5 inches more and tilting the top of the seat back another 2 inches. You are still able to mount the seat normally without any modifications to the bolts or putting spacers in that could cause any potential change in structural safety. There is no change to any of the seat functions. AQM Seat Angle Adjusters are made from high-tensile steel with a black E-Coat to ensure durability of the material and finish. Expect about an hour installation time per seat which can be completed by a mechanically savvy individual. Just make sure there is no power on in the car so you don’t trigger the air bag lights when you unplug the seats for removal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe results have been nothing short of spectacular, with hundreds sold just through initial word of mouth. Not only is visibility and head room now right where it needs to be (even when wearing a helmet and HANS), the angle of the seat is much more supportive and comfortable and full electronic height adjustability is still maintained. They have also proven very popular in the passenger seat as your significant other really appreciates the additional comfort on those long drives. We recommend installing them in both the driver and passenger seats. These Breakaway Camber Plates allow for increased camber while also preventing the dreaded strut tower failure. In order to understand the function of the Breakaway Camber Plate, lets first examine why GT cars are prone to strut tower failure:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePorsche strut towers are made of die cast aluminum. This material is very strong, rigid, and lightweight, but possesses very little ductility and does not typically bend under severe impacts.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePorsche GT cars are lower than Carrera models, and therefore have reduced suspension travel. Reduced suspension travel increases the likelihood of the suspension bottoming out, and experiencing severe impact.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePorsche GT cars have solid spherical bearing camber plates from the factory. These solid spherical bearings do not have any bushings to dampen impacts, so all strut loads are transferred directly to the shock towers.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eMore importantly, the OEM GT camber plates are extremely robust. In the event of a massive impact such as a pothole, the OEM camber plate does not bend or crack, it is MUCH stronger than the strut towers. Bottom line is that the strut towers become sacrificial, rather than a replaceable part!\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRR Racing’s Patent Pending Breakaway Camber Plate significantly reduces the chances of strut tower failure by making the camber plate sacrificial, not the chassis of your Porsche! Under normal operating conditions, the camber plate offers a direct solid connection between the struts and the strut towers, as you would expect from a track oriented GT product. However, unlike any other product on the market, RR Racing camber plates essentially sacrifice themselves in case of an impact, allowing the integrated elastomer bushing to absorb the impact and protect the strut towers. The root cause of the problem are the massive impact loads associated with bottoming out of the suspension, and the inability of the stock camber plate or strut tower to absorb the impact and deflect. In many cases, upper reinforcement plates can theoretically help, but often times they simply transfer loads to other failure prone areas of the strut tower. When the GT suspension bottoms out, the strut towers experience a metal-on-metal impact event without any deflection of the camber plate or the strut tower. Regardless of whether the brakes are factory Steel or PCCB calipers, there are factory ceramic pucks screwed to the face of the pistons that serve as a thermal barrier between the pads and the pistons, lessening the heat transfer to the fluid. Due to the intense heat and heat cycles from hard\/extended braking, the ceramic pucks are becoming brittle and disintegrating. Early signs of this are cracking or chipping. Broken or lack of ceramic puck material may cause reduced braking effect and additional heat transfer through the pistons and into the fluid. We developed a replacement tip assembly that bolts to either the factory center muffler or any aftermarket muffler\/bypass that will accept the factory tip assemblies. \u003c\/span\u003eAs simple turndown tips have been shown to not make enough of a difference in some cases, we took an extra step and added straight through race resonators into our turndown tip assembly. The turndown tips themselves are held on to the resonator assemblies by vband clamps and are optional to run. Unlike slip on turndowns that seat themselves to exhaust piping after heat cycled, the vband clamps allow for easy loosening of the tips at any time to point them away from sound recording equipment.
